Tip: place the card flat in good, even lighting for the most accurate grade.

Use bright, even lighting

Shoot in natural daylight or a well-lit room. Avoid glare, shadows, and direct reflections on the card surface.

Fill the frame, keep it flat

Place the card flat and fill the frame edge-to-edge. Make sure all four corners are visible and not cut off.

Hold steady & square-on

Shoot straight down, not at an angle. Keep the camera steady to avoid blur, and tap to focus on the card.

Use a tripod or phone holder

Mount your camera on a tripod, bipod, or a simple phone holder to keep it rock-steady. This eliminates camera shake and blur, giving a sharper image and a far more accurate grade.

Take 2–3 scans of each card

Photo quality affects the result — small differences in framing or focus can shift the grade by half a point or more. Scan a couple of times and keep the best one.
